statement by Michael Kirby. Note that this letter is worded to suggest that Premier Anna
Bligh is the specific person responsible for the ongoing blocking of equal age
of consent reform.

Dear Mr Frame
Thank you for your
email dated 1 March 2010 and your subsequent letter received on 11 May 2010,
regarding age of consent legislation. The Honourable Cameron Dick MP,
Attorney-General and Minister for Industrial Relations, has asked me to reply
on his behalf.
As indicated in
previous responses from this office to you, the Premier of Queensland has
publicly stated that the Queensland Government has no plans to make policy
amendments in this area.
Accordingly, this
Government is not intending to progress any legislative reform on this issue at
this time.
Thank you for once
again raising your concerns with the Attorney-General.
